Ladies
Professional Golf Association- In 1989, the Ladies Professional Golf association
moved its national headquarters to Daytona Beach, Florida.
The overall plan for the LPGA in Daytona is to create a first-class
destination resort, which will include residential and commercial
property. The resort will
serve as a backdrop to the LPGA’s National Headquarters and also will
showcase this area as a premier resort community for the state of Florida.
In July 1994, the City of Daytona Beach proudly celebrated the
grand opening of its new 18-hole championship golf course, LPGA
international. The Rees Jones
designed golf course is the first course ever designed specifically for
women’s championship golf.
A second golf course is now open and was designed by noted golf
course architect Arthur Hills. With
the completion of the new LPGA headquarters building and construction of a
resort hotel and clubhouse complex, Daytona Beach now offers a world class
golfer’s destination. For

Tennis-
The headquarters for the United States Tennis Association’s Florida
Section is negotiating a plan that would bring the headquarters to Daytona
Beach. It is a collaborative
effort compromised of the City of Daytona Beach, County of Volusia,
Central Florida Sports Commission, Consolidated-Tomoka Land Company,
Convention and Visitors Bureau and The Chamber, Daytona Beach/Halifax
Area. Daytona Beach is the
only area the association is seriously considering.
This is due mainly to its central location in the state.
The proposed site would occupy 12 acres of land currently owned by
Consolidated-Tomoka Land Company adjacent to the LPGA project.
The facility would boast a state of the art complex including 24
lighted soft composition courts, a 1500 spectator stadium, and 6000 square
feet of office space.
