January 7, 2025 -
Based on the input of our members who completed a survey on legislative priorities, the following 7 areas are priority focus areas, in order of ranked importance for our advocacy efforts on a local, state and federal level.
The Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce will monitor and respond to issues such as:
Flooding, Stormwater and Coastal Resiliency – We believe that addressing flooding, stormwater, and coastal resilience is crucial for protecting infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of communities vulnerable to environmental
challenges.
Property Insurance Affordability and Accessibility – We support a competitive and stable insurance market and a reduction of size and exposure to Citizens’ Insurance.
Infrastructure and Road Improvements - We believe that we need to better plan for adequate infrastructure to accommodate anticipated growth in our region.
Affordable Housing – We advocate for legislation supporting the continued growth of affordable housing across our region and the state of Florida.
Workforce Availability and Training – We support efforts to ensure that our community continues to have a skilled workforce.
Economic Development Funding – We support incentive programs that reward employee growth and expansion, in Volusia County.
Healthcare Insurance Affordability - We believe that Floridians must have access to affordable healthcare. The government should build on the strengths of market-based employer-sponsored systems.
While these are our focus areas, we will continue to advocate for the business community on the region’s critical issues. Our 2025 Legislative Priorities, along with the Chamber’s “Where We Stand” document, outlines our positions in detail.
