SPOOKY SHOPPING SEASON IN FULL SWING AT GOODWILL
Pop-Up “Bootiques” Provide Savings, Unique DIY Halloween Costume Inspiration
ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 13, 2023) – October is one of the busiest sales months for Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF), and with inflation still impacting household budgets, many families will be looking for creative ways to save on Halloween costumes and décor.
All 29 GICF retail stores are outfitted with specialized “bootiques” and staffed by Halloween helpers who are equipped to assist shoppers in designing a one-of-a-kind DIY look from a wide selection of donated clothes, shoes, hats, jewelry and other accessories. Consumers may also find unopened, pre-packaged costumes that cost about 50% less than big box retail prices.
Not only can buying a secondhand outfit at Goodwill save money, but it also reduces waste. This year, GICF is on trend to divert more than 20 million pounds of unwanted household goods from local landfills. Plus 90% of every sale supports Goodwill’s mission of “Building Lives That Work.”
“Halloween has become one of the most favorite times of the year at Goodwill,” said Ed Durkee, president and CEO at GICF. “Most retailers look forward to the holiday season starting in November, but for us it begins in mid-August when the stores transition into ‘bootiques.’ Our employees look forward to the spooky shopping season and creating unique costumes that you won’t see anywhere else.”
GICF has retail stores and outlets across Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia and Brevard counties. To find the nearest location, visit www.CraftYourCostume.com.
